This past weekend Webster Racing hosted their first open house to unveil the new shop, boat, and hauler to sponsors and friends. It was a terrific event with awesome food and great boat racing atmosphere. It also featured action from this past racing season on the TV. A special thank you goes to Margherita's Pizza who graciously donated the sub platters for the event.

THE BOAT AND HAULER HAVE ARRIVED!!!!!
The journey to bring home the equipment began two weeks ago with Steve Webster flying out to Seattle to pick up the new hauler from Tri-Van in Ferndale, WA. From there he headed to the U-37 shop to pick up parts for the boat that had been made over the summer in preparation for 2008. The next phase of the trip took Steve to Evansville, Indiana where he met team driver Mike Webster to take possession of the boat. Both hauler and boat made it home safely to Pennsylvania where it will be campaigned out of for next season. Below you can see photos of the boat and truck at the new shop facility.
The entire Webster Racing team would like to extend a thank you to the Schumacher Racing Team as well as the Cooper Racing Team for all the help and guidance that they have given.

Stay posted for more updates and look for the truck to be making its way back east from Seattle in the upcoming month, hopefully with a stop in Evansville, Indiana to pick up the boat.

During the summer months in preparation for 2008 the team has been busy in many areas. Progress continues with the T-2000 Kenworth and should be ready for pick up in mid September. You can see the progress it has made so far and when it is completed will be first class tow vehicle. The boat is still resting in Evansville, Indiana awaiting her diet until the tow rig is completed and she can be brought home to PA. A shop is being constructed currently and should be ready to move into when the hauler is completed and the boat is picked up.
Over the summer the team traveled to the races to keep an eye on the action, learn about the competition, and work with sponsors. During the same time while out in Seattle a rear cowling was constructed using the supplies provided by MAS Epoxies. That piece will travel back to the East Coast with the hauler along with a turbine and gear box for fitting purposes.
Check out HydroInsider.com for a recent article and interview with Mike Webster about the team and the 2008 race season preparation.

This past month there has been a flurry of activity with Webster Racing. Steve Webster, the head crew chief made a trip to Seattle to over see the new construction of the teams tow vehicle. The Kenworth T-2000 had to make its way from the Fab Shop, where the frame was stretched, to Tri Van where the box is going to be installed and outfitted. While in the Seattle area Steve was able to check on the progress of the teams turbine and gearbox program which is being headed by John Walters and assisted by Mike Parker, who is in charge of those two vital components for Webster Racing. Pictured below is John Walters and Scott Rainey who have been a big help in transitioning the team into Unlimited racing. A big thank you goes out to them and the U-37 team. Also pictured is Cason from Tri Van who is doing the truck modifictions.

Progress continues in the Webster Racing Unlimited camp. The team recently traveled back to Evansville, Indiana to pick up various molds and spare parts. Plans to bring the boat home to Pennsylvania are being made for late August, or early September. In the meantime progress continues with marketing and the various parts that need to be made to retrofit the boat for the turbine.

The Webster Race Team is entering into uncharted territory. The race shop sits empty after selling the Unlimited Light hull to Tim and Warren Ignacio of Lowell, Massachusetts. With an empty shop and high aspirations the team traveled to Evansville, Indiana and purchased an UNLIMITED hull from Ed Cooper. The boat will be campaigned in 2008. The hull is the former Master Tire that was run from 1998 until mid season 2002. It will be run with the turbine power plant in comparison to the Allison piston power that it originally ran with. Team driver Mike Webster commented "Racing Unlimiteds has always been a dream for me, and I'm grateful to be in a position to make that dream come true." Further updates will be coming...
